It is with humility and hope that we introduce new branch of Darul Uloom Ravia Ilyas – Sasolburg, a newly established branch serving the communities within the Municipality of Metsimaholo in the Free State Province. Situated in the Fezile Dabi District, our institution is dedicated to nurturing Islamic knowledge, moral values, and community service while providing a safe and supportive environment for those in need.

Story Darual Uloom Ravia Ilyas Sasolburg

The Darul Uloom currently accommodates 34 full-time students, comprising 20 male and 14 female learners, ranging in age from 7 to 20 years. These students are enrolled in various programmes aimed at developing their Islamic knowledge and character. During school recess periods, the number of residents’ increases significantly as former students return from Darul Uloom Markaz, where they are pursuing advanced Aalim studies and Hifz-ul-Qur'an programmes.

In addition to providing quality Islamic education, the Darul Uloom ensures that all students receive daily meals, accommodation, supervision and pastoral care, irrespective of their financial circumstances. Importantly, no student is charged any fees for tuition, boarding or meals, as we firmly believe that financial hardship should never be a barrier to seeking knowledge.

The work of Darul Uloom Ravia Ilyas extends far beyond the classroom. The institution actively undertakes Da'wah initiatives in surrounding communities, sharing the message of Islam through compassion, education and service. By the grace of Allah, individuals embrace Islam on a regular basis through these outreach efforts. The Darul Uloom further provides support and temporary refuge to destitute individuals, those who have been abandoned, and new reverts facing social and economic challenges following their acceptance of Islam.

Despite its growing impact and reputation as a centre of excellence, the Darul Uloom faces significant financial constraints. The increasing number of students and beneficiaries places considerable pressure on our limited resources, particularly in relation to the provision of boarding facilities, meals, educational resources and general operational requirements.

The surrounding community itself experiences considerable economic hardship, making local fundraising efforts increasingly difficult. It is therefore through the generosity of compassionate individuals, families, businesses and charitable organisations that this noble work can continue and flourish.
